We have great things in mind

Over the break I took pictures for one of my friends and her boyfriend. We went around Hickory, which is where I'm from, and took different pictures. I shot some of her and her boyfriend, as well as her sister and her boyfriend. It was really fun and I think the pictures turned out great! Here's a few of them.

Winding Down

So we just got back from Easter break and only have 2 1/2 weeks of school left! I can't believe it! There's still a lot of work to be done and a lot of things to do before graduation though. Thinking about all I have to do kind of overwhelms me, but I just keep telling myself only a couple more weeks of school and then I'm done for the rest of my life! I don't think it's really hit me that I'm never going to have to write another research paper, study for another test, or
go to class. I can't believe my school days are almost over, it felt like this time would never come. It definitely has though, and I'm just trying to savor every minute of my last few weeks in college. I can't even begin to think about what life will be like after this chapter in my life.

My First Wedding Shoot

Tomorrow I get to go shoot my first wedding with the the man I'm doing my internship with. I'm pretty excited about it, but kind of nervous as well. I'm excited that I will have wedding pictures to put up on my website to show more of my work, but I'm nervous about knowing where to be and not be in the way of anything. I'm sure it will be fine once I get there and see the place and get everything figured out. The wedding is down in Raleigh on NC State Campus. I've never heard of having a wedding on such a large campus, but I'm sure it's going to be fun! I've been anticipating tomorrow for a while, and I can't believe it's already here! I can't wait to be there

Dawg Days

Tomorrow is Dawg Days here at Gardner-Webb and it's the last one of the year. Dawg Days is where prospective students come and get to meet current students and faculty. They also get to have a tour and watch a video about the University. I think it's a great opportunity for prospective students to get a great overview of our school and the environment here on campus. My job during Dawg Days is to take pictures of the students with our mascot Mac the Bulldog. I like having that job because I get to talk to the students and take their picture and I have a fun time doing it! This will be my last Dawg Days I have to work, and it's kind of weird, but I'm sure it'll be great!

Trying to Finish Up!

I've been working on more pictures for my final project in photography this week. On Monday I took pictures of one of my friends here that is a cheerleader for GWU. We went down on the football field and did some different shots, and it was pretty fun. We had a fun time hanging out and she loved the pictures! I'm almost done with my project, and I'm pretty glad. I just have two more assignments and my project will be complete. That just means that the end of school is nearing and my senior show is just around the corner. It still hasn't really hit me yet that I'm almost done with school for the rest of my life, but I think it's about to

The Couple

The Beach!

So this past week we had spring break here at school. It was a pretty good time to just get away and not worry about anything! I was pretty thankful to have that break. I went down to Myrtle Beach for a week with some friends and met up with some other people we knew. One day we were out on the beach just laying out and hanging around and we looked up and this couple had sat down in front of us and had a huge parrot! So obviously I had to take a picture of it! It was pretty entertaining sitting there watching that huge bird! The rest of the week was pretty chilly so we went and shopped and went to some shows and to the aquarium. All in all I had a great break and it was a good time of relaxing and fun!

Snow

Snow Day

This week we had our first snow day of the year! It was pretty exciting and everyone was running around campus like crazy on Sunday night when it first started coming down. It actually was one of the best snows I've seen in a long time. The next day everyone went out and played in it and made snowmen and igloos all over campus. Its pretty crazy that we had snow this week and next week we all get Spring Break. But hey at least we got a day this week to take a little break and relax and enjoy the snow!

Spring Break Plans

Spring Break is coming up next week and I'm pretty excited! Some of my friends and I are headed down to Myrtle Beach for the week and we're staying at a new resort that has a water park inside the resort! I think its going to be pretty awesome! So even if it's not warm enough to go out on the beach and lay out, we'll have the water park! We're probably going to go to a few shows and go shopping a lot as well, which I always enjoy. It's just going to be a nice little break from school and class work. I can't believe it's already time for Spring Break, this semester is flying by so fast!

The Pilot- GWU's Newspaper

One of the things I'm involved with here on campus is the newspaper staff. This past week I got to take pictures of the women's tennis team in action. They played Erskine College. I enjoy taking pictures of sports here at Gardner-Webb. Being on the newspaper staff has given me many opportunities to take pictures and I always love that!

It's great being involved in something that you're interested in and a great way to meet new people and feel that you're making a contribution to the University!

Valentine's Day

This past weekend was Valentine's Day weekend. My boyfriend and I headed down to Greenville to go eat at P.F. Changs and then just go hang around downtown. Like I've said before, I love going down to Greenville. Everything was great about the night except for the little bit of traffic. And when I say a little bit, I mean A LOT! It was pretty bad. I felt like it was Christmas shopping time again and everyone was driving crazy and trying to get places. But besides that it was a great night. We ate and then went and walked around downtown and got some Starbucks. It was a fun little night and even though there was a lot of traffic, it was worth it!

Getting It All Together

So this past week has been very busy for me. I'm starting to realize I only have about 2 1/2 months left until all of my pictures for photography are due. It's starting to get a little stressful. I have to plan out all of my portraits that I'm going to be doing, and those will be shown in my Senior show in April. It is pretty overwhelming to think about but I know it has to be done. This coming week we're having an art show on campus and we are required as photography students to submit photos. I've been struggling with what I want to submit, but I think I finally figured out what I'm going to do. Back in the fall I took pictures at a GRITS concert here on campus and I'm going to submit a few of those. I know that right now everything seems kind of stressful, but it will be worth all the hard work in the end.

Miss Gardner-Webb Pageant

This past weekend we had the annual Miss Gardner-Webb Pageant. We have one every year in Dover Theater over in the LYCC. It is always pretty entertaining and I've gone every year that I've attended here. There were 12 contestants up for the crown. A bunch of students come out to support the girls and some even make signs and hold them up during the time that certain girl is out on the stage. I thought that this year was a lot better than previous years, it ran a lot smoother and I thought the set was prettier. At the end of the night one lucky girl is crowned Miss Gardner-Webb and will have that title for an entire year!

Making Cookies!

The other night some friends came over to my apartment and made cookies! It was a lot of fun having people over and just hanging out with everyone. The way the apartments are set up, there are four bedrooms, a main living room area, and a kitchen. There is also a laundry room in each of the University Apartments (a wonderful feature). My roommates and I had 3 people over. One of them is my friend Brittany. This was her last time at Gardner-Webb because she joined the Peace Corps and since that time has gone to Rwanda. This was a really great time for us all to be able to get together and fellowship with Brittany before she left. We made a couple hundred chocolate chip cookies for one of the sports teams on campus, and we just had a great time hanging out with each other. All in all, it was yet another fun night on the campus of Gardner-Webb. Have a great week everyone!

Greenville for the Evening!

Last night some of my friends and I went down to Greenville, SC to go to the Rascal Flatts concert. We had a great time. I love going to Greenville and going to eat and just hanging out downtown. It's only about 45 minutes away from campus so it's a good little place to go to just to get away sometimes. We went and walked around downtown and went to the waterfall there and then we went and ate at Wild Wing Cafe.

After supper we went to the concert. It was my third time seeing them in concert but it was still really good! It was a great way to spend a Thursday evening and I hope I get to see them again someday!

The Beginning of the Semester!

So this semester is getting off to a pretty good start. I'm in my final senior photography classes and it is starting to be a little stressful/overwhelming. One of the first things our professor made us do was make a website. I have finally got mine up and running but there are still a lot of little things I need to do to it and work on.

My website is www.caseycaldwellphotography.com. I got my first assignment today in one of my photography classes and I'll put those pictures up on here when I complete the assignment! Being a Senior, and it being your last semester can be kind of scary at times but I'm having a great time and learning a lot here in the last stretch of things!

Christmas Break!

So my Christmas break this year was a lot better than most of the breaks I've had in the past. I got to go to the Bahamas on a cruise!

It was so much fun! Four of my friends and I went. We had a blast.

I've never seen beaches so beautiful in my life and the weather was perfect! It was really hard to come back home to the cold after the cruise was over. At least it was Christmas! When I got back home we did all the Christmas things that we usually do. I loved being home for the holidays and getting to spend time with family and friends.

This was by far the best Christmas break yet!
